Oncology and Hematology

Juris Medicus has a medical expert who is board-certified in pediatrics and hematology-oncology. We also have a fellowship trained adult specialist who who is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in medical oncology and a hematology sub-specialty.

Oncology is the branch of medicine that specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Hematology is the medical subspecialty dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of blood diseases and disorders. Hematology-oncology is the overlap of these two specialist branches of medicine concerned with diagnosing, treating, and studying cancers of the blood cells, bone marrow, and related tissues.

A hematologist-oncologist is a dually board-certified physician trained in both hematology and oncology. These 3-year fellowship trained physicians are specialists in the diagnosis, treatment and/or prevention of disorders and cancers that affect the blood and bone marrow in addition to the immunologic, hemostatic, and vascular systems in the body.
